Tampa Bay business owners report a sharp increase in customer traffic and sales as the World Series continues in St. Petersburg.
Kyle Frantz, who operates Poppo's Taqueria, stated that business volume has reached its highest point in recent memory. He noted that thousands of visitors are traveling to the area, creating a busy environment in the downtown district. Frantz observed that the open front window of his restaurant allows the scent of cooking food to attract passersby who may not yet know the establishment. The increased foot traffic from fans attending watch parties and street events has kept his staff busy over the past two days.
Kenneth Hoyumpa, owner of Grassroots Kava House, confirmed that the community has benefited from the tourism regardless of the on-field results. He welcomed visitors from across the Tampa Bay region and the rest of the country. Hoyumpa emphasized that the presence of out-of-town guests adds to the vibrancy of St. Petersburg's local scene.
Kirk Everhard, a Milwaukee Brewers fan, attended Game 3 and spent time exploring the area. He walked along Central Avenue and found the local businesses to be welcoming. Everhard, who also stayed in an Airbnb and dined at local restaurants, predicted that the revenue generated for hotels and shops near the stadium would be substantial. He described the financial impact as a major money maker for the area's commercial sector.
Merchants expressed gratitude for the exposure provided by the event. Frantz said the mix of visiting fans and local residents supporting the team created a positive atmosphere for the city. The owners indicated that the economic boost is a win for the local economy no matter which team advances.
The World Series activity has concentrated spending in the downtown corridor, with fans filling restaurants, shops, and hotels. Local business leaders view the current period as a peak moment for their annual revenue cycle.
