American Airlines flight attendant Destiny Blake was taken into custody on Friday following a fraud investigation that links her airline travel privileges to a $25,310 theft from an elderly Florida woman. Blake, 24, was booked into Miami-Dade County jail and posted $30,000 bond, with extradition to Flagler County expected.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says the scheme began in November 2025 when a caller identified herself as a Publishers Clearing House representative. The 75-year-old victim was told she had won a prize and instructed to mail a $500 gift card to Blake’s Brooklyn, New York address. Shortly after, the victim’s email password was changed to a similar-looking address, cutting off her access to communications.
Between November 15 and November 19, 2025, the victim withdrew more than $14,000 from her bank. Investigators say she delivered $14,220 in cash and Zelle payments to Blake. On November 18, Blake used standby passenger benefits to fly from New York to Daytona Beach. She booked an Uber to a hotel on State Road 100 in Palm Coast the same day.
The next morning, Blake arrived at the victim’s home just before 11 a.m. and left 15 minutes later for the airport. Before returning to New York, unauthorized purchases were made on the victim’s credit card at Daytona Beach and Charlotte airports. Detectives also found that Blake became an authorized user on the victim’s Apple Card, receiving her own card under the victim’s account. A handwritten note found in the home instructed the victim to identify Blake as her granddaughter to the card issuer.
From November 16 to December 11, 2025, 88 charges totaling $10,590.30 were logged on the victim’s credit cards. These included a $1,740.91 eBay order sent to Blake’s Brooklyn home, $1,523.16 in Apple products, and over $1,300 spent on T-Mobile, Ugg, a Brooklyn hair salon, and Uber rides. One ride in Kingston, Jamaica, was billed in Jamaican dollars two days after Blake flew there for work.
Surveillance video showed Blake using the stolen card at a supermarket in Queens, and cellphone records placed her near other retail locations on transaction dates. The total loss to the victim was approximately $25,310. An arrest warrant for grand theft and fraudulent charges was secured on October 13.
Sheriff Rick Staly stated that Blake used her flight attendant benefits to target a senior resident and live a lavish lifestyle using stolen bank cards. He noted that her arrest by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers brought her back to Flagler County to face accountability. Blake faces charges including organized scheme to defraud a victim over 65, fraudulent use of personal identification information of a person over 60, and grand theft over $20,000.
