The Ocean Center in Daytona Beach filled with thousands of people on Friday to support President Donald Trump. This gathering occurred two days before the midterm elections, marking a final push to mobilize voters in a key swing state.
Attendees arrived early, with many lining up outside the venue before sunrise. Some supporters drove for several hours to reach the site, while others used ride-share services to avoid anticipated traffic. The crowd included long-time residents as well as visitors from other states who made the trip specifically for the event.
David Dempster, a Trump supporter from Scotland, traveled four hours to be present. He described himself as an American by choice and said the experience was marvelous. Dempster noted that no other candidate had ever inspired him to attend a rally in this manner, calling the president a special man who is saving the country.
The choice of Daytona Beach, a reliably red area, drew questions about the strategic intent behind the location. Phyllis Purvis, a supporter at the event, suggested the venue selection reflects the president's connection to the state. She noted that Florida holds a special place in his heart and that he has won the state three times.
Craig Gabriel, another attendee, argued that the president is present to maintain momentum. He emphasized that the party in power often loses when voters stay home and stressed that supporters should not assume victory without participation. Gabriel urged the crowd to actually cast ballots.
Dissent was visible outside the Ocean Center, where Michelle Harle used a megaphone to voice her opposition. She cited rising gas prices and the ongoing war in Iran as primary reasons for her protest. Harle criticized the notion that wearing a red cap makes someone part of a team, arguing that the slogan has lacked real benefits for everyone.
Marilyn Silva stated that she plans to continue backing the president regardless of the election results. She claimed that nobody can work harder than he does and suggested that if Republicans do not secure victory, it is not a reflection of his efforts. Florida residents have two remaining days for early voting before the polls close on Tuesday.
