University of South Florida students occupied a third-floor polling station in the Marshall Student Center on Tuesday, casting ballots before the polls closed at 7 p.m. in Tampa. The location served as a central hub for the campus community as Election Day proceedings moved toward their final hours.
Voters expressed specific priorities while filling out their ballots. Jenna Abbas identified healthcare as her primary concern. She argued that it is critical to represent individuals who want healthcare for everyone, noting that many people suffer from uncontrollable diseases in the country.
Anelie Arenas encouraged hesitant peers to participate in the process. She stated that every vote counts, explaining that a single ballot can determine an elected official's win. According to Arenas, that outcome helps continue building the country, the state, and education systems. She urged those on the fence to simply go and do it, asserting that a person's voice matters regardless of their identity.
The polling place remained active until the 7 p.m. deadline. Election rules allowed any individual in line by that time to cast their vote. The Tuesday session concluded with the closure of the facility's voting operations.
