DataMEDS AI will begin dispensing six peptides that have never received FDA approval. The Tampa-based company announced on Monday that its subsidiary, Corexa Health, intends to start filling prescriptions this month. The move places the Nasdaq-listed firm into a contested segment of the pharmaceutical market just days after federal regulators altered the rules for compounding these specific chemicals.

The company secured a supply agreement for BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, MOTS-c, Epitalon, and Semax. These short amino acid chains are not yet evaluated by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. They have gained popularity as potential treatments for issues ranging from obesity and inflammation to neurological conditions. Until recently, consumers largely bought these items online with research-use-only labels, often bypassing standard pharmacy safeguards.

The shift follows an Oct. 30 policy change by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The new rule creates a temporary pathway for licensed pharmacies to compound certain peptides while the FDA continues its review. The agency is determining whether these substances should be added to its list of permitted ingredients. The policy does not constitute full approval, and federal officials retain the authority to modify or rescind the guidelines at any time.

Gerald Commissiong, the company's interim co-CEO, stated that the goal is to move customers from informal online sources into conventional prescription channels. "We believe that many gray market patients would prefer to purchase their peptides from a licensed pharmacy," Commissiong said. The company aims to leverage its existing logistics infrastructure to support this transition.

DataMEDS operates a warehouse in Lakeland where it will handle supplies from manufacturers. It will distribute the ingredients to qualifying compounding pharmacies through its third-party logistics business. The firm claims access to a network of more than 6,500 independent pharmacies. However, the announcement did not specify how many of those pharmacies plan to purchase the ingredients or offer the prescriptions.

Participating pharmacies must adhere to strict requirements. These include specific ingredient sourcing, testing, and patient-specific prescriptions. They must also label products correctly and report adverse events or quality issues. DataMEDS plans to use its Health Lives Here mobile application to collect and report this safety data under the new federal framework.

The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed the six substances in July. Meetings on July 23 and 24 examined proposed uses for wound healing, insomnia, and other disorders. Those applications remain unproven. DataMEDS has not disclosed the financial terms of the supply deal, the identity of its supplier, or the expected revenue from the arrangement. Its rollout will proceed through Corexa Pharmacy, which is part of a broader healthcare operation that includes a diagnostics lab in Pittsburgh.
