Roger Dale Sanspree, 73, was booked into the Escambia County Jail this week on multiple felony charges related to the sexual abuse of a juvenile relative. The Cantonment resident faces two counts of sexual battery by a person in a position of familial or custodial authority. One count involves a victim under 12, while the other involves a victim between 12 and 18. He also faces two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, one for a victim under 12 and one for a victim between 12 and 16.
The investigation opened in September 2026 after authorities received a report regarding inappropriate conduct. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office initially handled the case. A forensic interview took place at the Santa Rosa Kids House. The victim confirmed she was 14 years old during that interview. Investigators later transferred the case to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. They determined the incidents occurred at a residence in Cantonment.
The arrest report states the alleged abuse occurred over several years. It primarily took place while the victim was visiting the Cantonment home. During the probe, detectives collected statements, recorded interviews, and written correspondence from Sanspree. The report notes he acknowledged engaging in unlawful physical contact with the youth in those documents.
Sanspree remains in custody at the Escambia County Jail. He is being held without bond.
