Musk Pours $76M Into America PAC for Midterm Final Push

The tech billionaire’s campaign arm deployed massive new funds in Texas and shifted heavily toward digital advertising during the critical final weeks of the election cycle.

With the midterm elections approaching rapidly, Elon Musk has intensified his financial support for Republican candidates through his personal political committee, America PAC. According to a pre-election report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening, the billionaire contributed more than $76 million to the group in the first two weeks of October. This injection of capital marks a significant escalation in spending as the campaign enters its final stretch.

The PAC deployed nearly $43 million during that same two-week period, leaving the organization with a cash reserve of approximately $47 million heading into the last leg of the race. A substantial portion of this expenditure was directed at the competitive Texas Senate contest, which received $15.2 million. This amount is double what America PAC spent in that specific race over the summer months. Of the Texas allocation, $12.4 million was used to attack Democratic candidate James Talarico, while $2.8 million was spent promoting Republican Ken Paxton.

Subsequent daily filings indicate an additional $9.1 million spent against Talarico, bringing the total cycle spending against him to nearly $28 million. This figure represents roughly 40 percent of all funds America PAC has deployed to support or oppose candidates. The committee also demonstrated a strategic shift toward digital platforms, spending $11.4 million on online ads in the two-week window. This digital outlay nearly matched the combined total spent on traditional mail and text messaging efforts.

Musk’s total contributions to Republican political groups this election cycle now exceed $445 million, according to an analysis of FEC filings. This places him as the largest known individual donor in the current midterms. Of that total, more than $165 million has flowed into America PAC since July. The political committee declined to offer comment on the new filing.

The billionaire has also been vocal on social media regarding the Texas race. On Wednesday, Musk posted on X that he found Talarico’s character deeply flawed, calling the candidate “a creep” and claiming without evidence that Talarico would vote to take away children to transition them. He previously amplified an unverified claim that Talarico had received mental health treatment. Talarico responded by stating that there is something deeply wrong with a system allowing one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.

Despite the heavy spending, the Emerson College poll of 1,000 likely Texas voters, conducted from October 17 to 19, shows the race remains a toss-up. Talarico leads by two points at 48 percent, compared to Paxton’s 46 percent, which is within the poll’s three-point margin of error. The stakes extend beyond state lines, as a Democratic-controlled House has signaled plans to investigate Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency, his federal contracts, and his conflicts of interest. California Democrat Zoe Lofgren described the number of potential conflicts as “astounding.”

Silicon Valley Democrats have also targeted SpaceX’s Starshield satellite service in Ukraine. In a letter sent to the White House on Friday, Representatives Sam Liccardo, Jimmy Panetta, and Ro Khanna demanded an investigation and vowed that the next Congress would closely scrutinize federal funding awarded to Musk’s businesses.
