Jordanian security forces arrested three men on Monday morning in Karak governorate, a rural area south of the capital Amman. The suspects were taken into custody following a shootout at dawn. All three men sustained injuries during the confrontation, while no members of the security forces were hurt.

The arrests conclude the search for the individuals involved in an attack that occurred on Friday. Three men opened fire during a funeral service at a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hammoud. The attack targeted a congregation in a region known for its small Christian population.

Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya confirmed the arrests in a phone interview with the state broadcaster Al-Mamlaka. He stated that the security services had "fulfilled their duties, resulting in the capture of those who carried out this terrorist act." Al-Faraya added that the suspects "put up fierce resistance against the security forces, but were ultimately subdued and taken into custody, having sustained severe injuries."

The minister said the three men had been identified early in the investigation. Security officials used various methods to locate and apprehend them. The Public Security Directorate released a statement noting that "terrorism has no place among us" and that the men had met their "just fate." The directorate did not provide the names of the suspects.

No armed group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Reuters reported that officials did not link the incident to any specific Islamist militant organization. King Abdullah II directed authorities to respond with "an iron fist" against those he described as the outlaws of Islam and anyone seeking to undermine the unity of the Jordanian people.
