The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is opening a new animal clinic in Clearwater on November 2. The facility is located at 2907 State Road 590, Suite 5, and marks the organization's first dedicated health care location in Pinellas County.

Nash McCutchen, the organization's director of marketing and design, stated that the clinic is designed to keep pets out of shelters by addressing financial obstacles. She noted that high veterinary costs often force owners to surrender their animals. The new location aims to provide affordable options for vaccinations and basic care during current economic pressures.

The expansion follows the January merger between the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and the Humane Society of Pinellas. McCutchen explained that the combined entity can now serve Pinellas County residents without requiring them to cross the bridge to Tampa. This geographic shift allows the organization to distribute pet food assistance and low-cost medical services more effectively.

The one-story building features multiple exam rooms and is situated near the nonprofit's existing Clearwater animal shelter. McCutchen described the clinic as a resource for anyone, regardless of income or county of residence. Owners do not need to qualify for financial aid to use the services.

The clinic offers a range of preventive and diagnostic services for dogs and cats. These include wellness exams, vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, microchipping, X-rays, nail trims, and treatment for basic illnesses. Diagnostic lab work is also available. Appointments are required for all visits.

McCutchen clarified that the facility functions as a clinic rather than a full-service hospital. The organization plans to add spay and neuter services in the future. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for November 12.
