The University of Florida women’s basketball team defeated Flagler College 107-54 in its final exhibition game on Wednesday. The contest took place in Gainesville and served as the last tune-up before the official season begins.
Kiyomi McMiller, a first-year player under head coach Tammi Reiss, scored 27 points for the Gators. Vanessa Harris recorded a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Jade Weathersby added 13 points. Three other players also finished with double-digit scoring totals.
Florida made 11 three-pointers during the contest. McMiller and Moriah Murray combined for six of those long-range shots. The team generated strong offensive rebounding numbers and controlled the pace from the opening tip.
Reiss described the first half as a necessary adjustment period for the roster, which includes 13 new faces. She noted that the group played unselfish basketball and managed turnovers well. The coach expressed satisfaction with the team's effort in the first half but identified areas for cleanup in the second half, citing moments of letdown.
Reiss highlighted Harris' impact across the stat line, including steals, blocks, and assists. She said Harris remained in attack mode during dead runs in the second half. The Gators will move on to their regular season schedule following this exhibition finale.
